Successful training day with Allen & Heath, Funktion One and POLARaudio

Edinburgh, Monday 10th November.
Scottish hire company Ward Steedsy Associates held a very successful free training and demonstration day recently in The Bongo Club, Edinburgh.

Over 40 delegates from a range of backgrounds, including students, freelance engineers, youth music workers, event co-ordinators and promoters attended and were trained on the concept and use of the Allen&Heath   i-Live digital desk by Leon Phillips (Product Manager, A&H) on the Monday morning.

After lunch the day took on a less formal approach with a very interesting presentation by John Newsham (Co-founder of Funktion-One). John took the audience through the history of their Loudspeaker design from the early prototypes he and Tony Andrews developed pre-Turbosound up to their present work on the Funktion-One Resolution series. There then followed a demonstration of a Resolution 4 system with F121 bass subs.

Later in the afternoon Mark Bromfield (Business Development Manager – POLARaudio) demonstrated the award winning beyerdynamic OPUS drum microphones. A large Yamaha drum kit was miked up and the audience were given the chance to hear the OPUS microphones, i-Live and Funktion-One system in a live situation with local covers band Hunter playing a 30 minute set.

Other equipment on demonstration included - processing by XTA, amplifiers by MC2, vocal microphones by beyerdynamic, and a pair of Funktion-One’s new RM18 wedge monitors.

The successful day finished around 6pm and it is hoped to run another one along a similar format in the Glasgow area in the near future. If anyone wants to be kept informed of future events please contact Steven Ward on 07768 413795 or steven@ward-
