beyerdynamic systems - run new sports complex in Scotland
Robert Gordon University (RGU) Aberdeen has invested over £10 million in a state of the art sports centre. The new complex provides opportunities for students, staff and the wider community of all levels of ability, to participate in sport and physical activity.
The centre is a dramatic improvement in the region’s infrastructure for sporting activities and it will also act as a social hub for the Garthdee campus.
The brand new purpose-built complex comprises of a competition size (25m) swimming pool, a sports hall the size of 2 hockey pitches, 6 fitness suites, climbing wall and bouldering room, with ancillary areas such as a large reception and café.
Throughout the planning and installation of the sports complex, specification and backup were provided by beyerdynamic’s Technical Sales Manager Jon Stanley and his team. “ Increasingly, in today’s advanced interactive systems, audio is linked with security and safety requirements. We find more and more projects need advice on how different products work and ‘talk’ to each other’, says Jon Stanley. ‘ As UK distributor we take great pride in making sure our range of audio products offer the very latest in technical advancement. They provide what the customer wants by working together, without complications, from day one”.
The equipment includes 30 Altec Lansing Professional DS912-8AG speakers, custom fitted with Altec Lansing Professional T5100-71 100W transformer low voltage audio system, and Renkus-Heinz RFX61 loudspeakers driven by Powersoft digital power amps in the swimming pool area. In the main sports hall Renkus-Heinz RFX81 loudspeakers work together with one hundred and fifteen Altec Lansing CF108 ceiling speakers. WHD marine loudspeakers, designed for totally wet applications, were chosen for the shower areas.
In addition, 4 WHD - SP01 sound projectors and 35 Altec Lansing DS912 loudspeakers with custom fitted 100 volt line transformers have been used in the fitness suites with biamp’s Audia DSP units running and controlling the whole project.
All audio systems were supplied by beyerdynamic and installed by AVC of Edingburgh. AVC are part of the Electrosonic group.
