Ordinary Boys tour the world with beyer microphones

The Ordinary Boys have just finished touring in the UK for 2006. Gigs included the V Festival and T in the Park, and now they are off to Japan for TV and more live performances.

FOH engineer Chris Martin of Stage Audio Services commented, “We’ll just take our own guitars, snare drums and mics for the Japanese gigs and source everything else out there. I prefer to take my own mics, which are nearly all beyer, because they have a real clarity and smoothness about them. I use OPUS 89's on the vocals. We have five of them going on and there’re just great - they can really handle the level that comes from Preston and the rest of the band with out too much spill.

My all time favourite is the classic M 88. You can put that on anything and it just sounds good. I like to use them on the kick and the bass guitar. We have two snares for which I use three OPUS 56's and MC 930's on the hat and ride. For the toms I use OPUS 88's and for the guitars I use OPUS 87's.

When we tour in the UK we use an extensive XTA rack setup, which has everything from SIDD's, C2's and D2's to DP224's and GQ600's”.

Preston and the Boys continue their prolific output with a third album 'How To Get Everything You Ever Wanted In Ten Easy Steps', and the recent single 'Lonely At The Top'.
