High Barn with Blue Sky

UK. High Barn Studios has just purchased Blue Sky’s ‘System One’ 5.1 monitor system and the BMC speaker management controller.

High Barn itself is a stunning Grade II medieval timber framed building which has been completely refurbished to the highest standard. Situated in the beautiful village of Great Bardfield, Essex, it is also close to Stansted International Airport with easy links to London.

High Barn incorporates a state of the art media centre that includes a large live performance area with concert stage, studio control room, two overdub rooms and video editing suite. The Control Room is uniquely positioned between the two recording spaces and has the advantage of direct views over the stage area. The facility offers related services such as High Definition (HD) filming, DVD authoring and finished graphic artwork. In short a ‘one stop shop’ for artist wanting to make and produce a live DVD.

“We have just installed a new HD2 Protools rig and a Blue Sky set up with the BMC 5.1 controller’ said Simon Allen, High Barn’s Stage and Studio Manager. ‘We love the System One. It’s better than anything else we’ve used. Ideal for our room. Due to the fact that 5.1 mixing is still uncharted territory for many sound studios, the Blue Sky 5.1 system provides a much needed reference standard. And it’s good to know that we are in the company of other Blue Sky users such as Skywalker Sound and the SAE”.

Although High Barn have specialise mainly in acoustic based performances, they recently recorded a live set from Sam Brown for a BBC radio broadcast.
