Britain’s largest Phase 4 digital wireless conference system Installation
Wandsworth Borough Council in London has chosen beyerdynamic’s digital wireless conference and voting system, MCW-D 20, for the Council chambers in Wandsworth Town Hall. This stylish listed building, designed by Edward A. Hunt in the 1930s, had its foundation stone laid by His late Royal Highness the Duke of Kent and was officially opened by Queen Mary on 14th July 1937.
Bringing history up to date, the complete system includes sixty individual MCW-D-200 (phase 4) delegate conference stations, each with secure voting software which is linked to an auto-follow camera system and display, developed and installed by Sound Advice of Hampshire, England

According to deputy council leader Maurice Heaster the council chamber now has 21st century facilities that would set the standard for other authorities.
“Anyone who has ever attended a council meeting will have experienced the frustrations of trying to keep up with events in the chamber. Now we will have a system that offers perfect audio-visual clarity that overcomes the design limitations of the gallery. The chamber has become a multi-purpose venue. I am sure the opportunity to capture events on film will add to the enjoyment of weddings and citizenship ceremonies. “
He said that the council will be looking at ways to further develop the system to meet the electronic government targets set by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. “This could include web casting of council meetings and other major consultation meetings held in the chamber."

Jon Hunnisett of Sound Advice told us, “We have installed many beyerdynamic conference/voting systems in this past year. Because the system is wireless, it can be easily stored away when not needed. The audio is of digital quality and made fully secure by the use of encryption software to stop eavesdropping. Also, being wireless, no cables are used so important features of listed buildings are not damaged.
“We were pleased to develop a bespoke piece of software which allows the two large video displays to show the delegate speaking. Images and audio from the chamber are relayed to flat panel monitors in the Leaders room, Opposition room and Members library. This also makes it possible to webcast the meeting live, across the internet, with remote voting via e-mail for delegates that cannot be there. We have also incorporated broadcast via an infrared system for the hard of hearing. All video and audio transmissions can be digitally recorded to a hard disc and DVD disc copies made.”
The practicality and versatility of the beyerdynamic digital wireless conference system puts Wandsworth Town Hall at the leading edge as a venue for all kinds of meetings, seminars, conferences, weddings and other ceremonies.
