beyerdynamic Rolls with the Times...!

Flintshire based Apple Sound has recently supplied Rolls-Royce Motor Cars prestigious manufacturing plant with a sophisticated TTS 30 TourGuide system from beyerdynamic. Situated in the heart of the English countryside in West Sussex, the facility is based within the historic Goodwood Estate and within easy reach of the circuit that Rolls-Royce now use as a test track.
The original design concept for the Rolls-Royce facility at Goodwood was that it truly should reflect the Rolls-Royce marque and exude an air of quality and opulence. Not only did the design have to live up to the levels of excellence demanded by Rolls-Royce, but also in a very practical way to welcome customers and the many thousands of people expected to visit the site. Nicholas Grimshaw and partners – creators of the internationally acclaimed Eden Project in Cornwall were awarded the contract.

Apple Sound has considerable experience of TourGuide systems, having been involved in both their Sales and Hire for over 10 years. Working closely with Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Annett Asztalos, Apple Sound’s TourGuide Product Manager, John Scott, helped specify the details of this system to meet the project team’s precise requirements.

Annett Asztalos commented:
“It was great working with Apple Sound and the bespoke system they designed exactly met our specifications. We needed a system which would offer the facility for the hard of hearing to experience the tour. Apple Sound incorporated their own induction loops to provide this service and it is being extremely well received”.

As an extremely effective wireless communications system, the TTS 30 is designed for guided tour presentations around the facility. Delegates on the tour can listen clearly to the commentary at a distance as well as in louder areas where it would be otherwise impossible to continue a commentary. In line with current buildings regulations, it was essential for the system to cater for the needs of the hard of hearing. To achieve this, a personal induction loop connects directly into the receiver, enabling those with hearing impediments, to receive the commentary, without any extraneous interference.

This particular system comprises 30 wireless receivers with two hand held transmitters for the guides. This provides the guides at Rolls-Royce with enormous flexibility to run either one large tour, or to run two smaller groups simultaneously. The commentary is played to the visitors through a single earpiece, which means they can still hear any audible warning signals from fork lift trucks or other emergency signals.
John Scott, TourGuide Product Manager at Apple Sound explained:
“beyerdynamic’s support was fantastic. By working with their technical support team, we adapted the system to meet the project team’s demands. The beyerdynamic system is so flexible that it lends itself perfectly to the use of an individual Apple Sound induction loop, which proved invaluable in this instance.”

The beyerdynamic system is both simple to use and operate. Each delegate uses a receiver and headphone, which link into the presenter’s beyerdynamic SEM 30 hand held radio microphone. Up to eight channels can be used simultaneously, making the system ideal for multi-lingual presentations.

The TTS 30 TourGuide system is also applicable for leisure attractions and business presentations, including museums, corporate events and outdoor events.
