beyerdynamic UK have confirmed an exclusive deal with
the German company ProdyTel
beyerdynamic UK have confirmed an exclusive deal with the German company ProdyTel (a spin-off from Prodys) for distribution in the UK & Eire. Prodys, based in Madrid, Spain, has been developing ISDN audio streaming solutions for the past 10 years, and is already one of the leading lights in the broadcast field. The marketing and sales office for daughter company ProdyTel is currently in Fuerth, Germany.

ProdyTel have developed a system named S-Cluster, which delivers 'live streamed audio' utilising Mpeg 4's and aptX over a standard IP Network (TCP-IP). The new encoders and decoders can work on a multi-channel basis, making the applications endless – anything from stadiums to home hi-fi over the internet.

ProdyTel sales manager Michael Zwanziger told us, "We have been involved in a co-operation development programme with Texas Instruments and, together with our software writers in Spain, we have developed the advanced algorithms needed to enable high quality audio to be sent over existing computer technology networks."
"We are very excited about the potential of this product" says beyerdynamic's managing director John Midgley. " It can work over the web and deliver audio from anywhere to anywhere, and we also believe it has the capability in the future to stream quality video".

The first installation is the Metro system in Athens, completed just in time for the Olympic Games, where S-Cluster encoders and decoders are streaming audio information such as train times, background music and security alerts to stations via a fibre optic network. beyerdynamic will be demonstrating the S-Cluster system at the forthcoming PLASA show on Stand H50.
