Powersoft distribution goes to beyerdynamic (GB)

beyerdynamic (GB) has been awarded be sole distributor of Powersoft in the UK and EIRE.  Founded in 1995 in Florence, Italy, Powersoft Advanced Technologies began working closely with the local university, and now emerge as one of Europe's most advanced electronic and software design companies.

Commenting on the new arrangement, beyerdynamic Managing Director John Midgley told us, "The advances that Powersoft have made over the past few years have been incredible. Digital amplification is the future and we are very pleased to be part of that future."

Powersoft designs are based on PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) technology, also known as Class D (digital). Occupying just one U rack space, they are smaller and lighter in weight than conventional power amps, with very low heat emission (95% efficiency!).

In 1998 Powersoft introduced the first generation of DIGAM amplifiers, which ranged in power from 450 watts per channel at 8 ohms to 6,000 watts per channel at 2 ohms.

Two new series are scheduled for launch at this year's Prolight+Sound Show. The K-10 Series - the first model of which is the DIGAM 10,000, with two channels producing 6,000 Watts at 2 Ohms, weighing in at 12 Kgs including DSP, Remote Control options, smart card etc; and the S series - starting with the S3400 featuring six channels, bridgeable, and producing 800 Watts into 4 ohms on two unbalanced channels and 450 watts into 4 ohms on the remaining 4 channels.

Up to now PWM  amplification technology has not been used in many audio applications, but Powersoft have taken advantage of new high-speed components and combined them with innovative design to develop high-power full bandwidth Class D professional amplifiers.
