Mecca bingo halls re-equip with Audia from Biamp
'Eyes down for a full house!'
Rank gaming division are refurbishing their bingo halls nationwide, as well as taking on a full programme of new builds. Burton-on-Trent and West Bromwich have opened this year, whilst halls in Doncaster, Chester, Rutherglenn (Scotland), Sheffield and Ellesmere in Birkenhead have all undergone technology makeovers.
John Wiggins has been overseeing the proceedings. "The audio requirements of our halls are pretty complex. We need to zone different areas, matrix various sources, equalise them, balance them and switch on demand. A complex problem, and it had to be easy to use, so the solution we chose was the Audia Flex system supplied from beyerdynamic. Its great, it does everything we need, it's easy to use and not too expensive".
The systems have been installed by Warren Benton of Close Electric Audio who says "Biamp's Audia Flex DSP is very powerful. It has the ability to be configured to suit. We have it all linked up under CobraNet running up to 64 channels of audio over CAT 5 cables around the buildings, anything up to 2 Kilometres in length. The sound racks we install are designed and built by Bob Frankish at The Sound & Light Company.
