ElectroMusic - Gallien-Krueger UK’s first ‘Plug and Play’ Superstore

ElectroMusic in Doncaster is the UK’s first Gallien-Krueger Supercentre. The complete range of amp heads and cabs are not only on show but are available for demonstration on a 'plug and play' setup. Musicians are invited to give the awesome power of these US heavyweights a full workout.
“GK have a distinctive sound. Modern, but with that vintage warmth. The quality of build is superb, from the Backline series through to the RB series,’ commented Dave Ryan of ElectroMusic. ‘There is an impressive list of endorsees with a good mix of hip new players as well as the old school and we get excellent support from the distributor.”

John Midgley, managing director of UK distributor beyerdynamic, had this to say. “We are very pleased to see ElectroMusic become a Supercentre for Gallien-Krueger. The current success of GK products in the USA has allowed us to set new pricing in the UK, and this means that musicians who previously couldn’t consider buying a top class GK bass amp can now afford one”.

The Gallien-Krueger story started way back in 1968 when a graduate from Stanford University walked into his local music store in California, carrying an amplifier he had made in his garage.  It had a unique design that impressed the store owner and a local club musician named Carlos Santana, who bought it.

Thirty one years and thousands of amplifiers later Bob Gallien is still designing unique products, and today GK products are enjoy by many of the world’s top players, such as Flea, of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and veteran Guns 'n' Roses bassist Duff McKagan.

GK touring heavyweights, the 400RB IV, 700RB II and the 1001RB II power-heads, have all been upgraded with a redesigned pre and extended power output.
Gallien-Krueger have also just launched two ultra lightweight bass heads along with a new series in the Neo range of Bass enclosures for the giging musician. The MB150-E amp head delivers 150 watts and only weighs an amazing 5Kg. Measuring 35cm x 25cm and standing 9cm high these are perfect for gigging and studio work, or any situation that requires portability. The new E head has stereo chorus (rate and depth controls), stereo FX in/out loop and stereo DI output with a cool blue LED on light. The MB150-S has been upgraded to a 150S-MkIII. This looks just as cool as the E version, and offers mono FX loop with DI output. Both models come as standard with 1/4" jack inputs (with 10dB pad), 2 mid-band Eqs (MB150-E has parametric mid EQ), treble & bass, voicing filters, limiter and headphone output. Also available in the Micro Bass series is the MB150S-III combo with a 1x12 speaker.

On the enclosure side, the Neo range offers the Gallien-Krueger silky-smooth sound in a practical, easy to handle package. The custom designed cast-frame Neodymium loudspeakers deliver an awesome power output at a fraction of the weight. The Neo 112 (1x12+horn) is only 18Kg but it can produce 102dB of sound level, with an 8 Ohm load, backed up by a massive 300W RMS power rating tag. Also available are the Neo 212 (2x12+horn) 600W, the Neo 115 (1x15+horn) 300W and the Neo 412 (4x12+horn) which can handle an incredible 1200W RMS. All cabinets can be switched between standard full range operation or Gallien-Krueger's proprietary horn bi-amp system, and come standard with both Speakon and 1/4" jack output connectors.

Alongside the heavyweights is the classic ‘Backline’ range of affordable heads, cabs and combos, which are all on show in the store.
